We all love stories, especially if they teach us something and make us feel good about ourselves. This story, my story, does both of those things.
I learned how to tint windows with my dad from a very young age. He always emphasized that there was a system on how to do things right. We took care of customers and developed a reputation for honesty and treating each customer as our best friend. These early lessons still affect how we do business.
When I was about 24, met a man named Dio and I jokingly told my mom that I was going to marry him. This was a joke because that’s what my mom said the first day she met my dad.
Ours was not a whirlwind romance, in fact, it wasn’t a romance at all. We were friends for about 7years while we each dated other people but kept in touch through good times as well as bad. Dio was even there for me at my mom’s funeral. I always saw him as a caring friend.
After about 7years, we were talking about what we wanted in a mate. Dio mentioned that he couldn’t tell me. He said you go first. We both decided to reveal our ideal mate and it was each other.
We set a date on which we would discuss whether we would date. There were logistics involved because we lived in different cities. I had a friend join us as a chaperone and we had barely begun the evening when she decided we were dating!
Our courtship was brief because we knew each other so well. I actually took advantage of an incredible sale and purchased my wedding dress long before he asked me to marry him!
His family took care of the entire wedding. All I had to do was show up and that relieved so much stress so that my Special day was a happy one. His mom even took the time and effort to embroider our wedding date, July 15th, on all the various items that we gave as gifts to our guests. That was so nice of her.
The only problem was that our wedding date was June 15, not July! Rather than hurt her feelings, we distributed the gifts and now we celebrate our anniversary twice a year, both in June as well as July!
Now, 10 years later, we are happier than ever! We work together in our own window tinting business, D&A Window Tint. Our life is not problem-free, but we face each challenge together with humor and understanding.
What does all of this have to do with you? You can be part of our story because we tint all windows, whether it’s for your vehicle. Your home or business. One of the lessons I learned early on was to treat each customer as my best friend.
